Gemma McKell is a creative lifestyle Photographer based in the Lake District. She lives by the sea in Cumbria with her husband, three children and dog, Ned. Gemma creates storytelling photographs and film for small, creative businesses. Her photography is nature led and she works with conscious creatives whose beliefs and ethos align with her own. Gemma has collaborated with many brands and small businesses over the years, helping to portray their story through honest, natural photography. She is greatly inspired by the coast and the ever changing elements and finds deep connections and inspiration through her love of nature, slow living  and the arts.

As well as branding and lifestyle photography, Gemma also also takes wedding Photography. When she’s not taking photographs she is also a part of The Seasonal Creative, a collaborative project, bringing slow living, nature inspired life to the heart of the Lake District. Gemma has created a seasonal photography workshop which covers mindful, creative practices and the importance of slowing down. In her spare time Gemma loves being outdoors, walking with her children and taking photographs of their seasonal travels. She loves to read and enjoys creative writing.

As a conscious photographer, Gemma is committed to being an advocate for nature and the natural world. To ensure that her work has a positive impact on the environment, she has developed a sustainability policy, that includes using sustainable materials, reducing waste, minimising the use of energy and water, utilising digital and online formats to share her work, and limiting the need for printed materials. Additionally, she will support and promote nature preservation initiatives by donating a portion of her profits to Cumbria Wildlife Trust. Through her photography, Gemma is dedicated to creating beautiful images that positively impact the environment.

Gemma is based in the Lake District but travels all over the UK and beyond
